History and Mission

The Notre Dame Office of Life and Human Dignity was established in 2011 as a collaborative initiative between the McGrath Institute for Church Life and the Notre Dame Office of the President. The office is committed to upholding and advancing the sanctity of life and the fundamental dignity of the human person through creative initiatives, formation and education, and public lectures and events that bring people together across disciplines who have a stake in defending human dignity.

The work of the office supports three goals:

  • The formation and education of current and emerging pastoral leaders to promote and defend the Church’s teaching on the sanctity of life
  • The development of an interdisciplinary approach to pro-life education
  • The advancement of pro-life research and scholarship.
