This professional development video series is named after Bishop John M. D’Arcy, who served as the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend from 1985 until his retirement in 2009. Bishop D’Arcy is remembered for his deep appreciation of the dignity of the ordained priesthood, which he recognized was due to its special configuration to the unique priesthood of Christ as an office of service to the baptismal priesthood. Bishop D’Arcy taught us to give the Church to itself, to teach the Church, in the persons of all who are members of the one Body, to love themselves as members of the Church and to find the gifts of the Spirit working within, below the surface, where it may sometimes seem absent.
We invite you to use the resources below for your personal and professional development. Each of the 13 videos has an accompanying handout to guide you through further reflection, and small group discussions. We'd love to hear your feedback on the series. After completing a section, please feel free to share any comments to help us improve future offerings for the Bishop D'Arcy Program for Priestly Renewal.
