Service Learning

Forming Lay Leaders for Service in the Church

Welcome to Service Learning at the McGrath Institute

The McGrath Institute for Church Life forms undergraduate and graduate students through teaching, pastoral formation, and direct service that bridges the Catholic intellectual tradition and the life of the Church. We invite young men and women to grow in knowledge and love of the Church and to discover how they are being called to serve and build up the Church, the Body of Christ.

"Do not wait, but respond enthusiastically to the Lord who calls us to work in his vineyard. Do not delay, roll up your sleeves, because the Lord is generous and you will not be disappointed! Working in his vineyard, you will find an answer to that profound question you carry within you: what is the meaning of my life?"

Pope Leo XIV

"As Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord reminds us, if it is the whole person who ministers, teaches, and leads, then the whole person is the proper subject of formation. We develop programming that simultaneously engages Catholic leaders in every dimension of human life—the pastoral, the personal, the spiritual, the intellectual—and provide opportunities for these dimensions to be in conversation with one another."
