Pope Benedict Emeritus book receives award

Explorations in the Theology of Benedict XVI, published in 2012 and edited by John C. Cavadini, Director of the Institute for Church Life, received the Bronze Award in the Religion category from the 2013 Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Award. The book was the result of a conference held at Notre Dame in 2012, God is Love: Explorations in the Theology of Benedict XVI, which aimed to offer a reflection on the theological career and achievement of Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.) A special leather-bound copy of the book was presented to Benedict in December 2012 by John Cavadini and was signed by Fr. John Jenkins, C.S.C., University President, along with the contributing authors; Lawrence S. Cunningham, O’Brien Chair of Theology Emeritus; Gary Anderson, Hesburgh Professor of Catholic Theology; Cyril O’Regan, Catherine F. Huisking Professor of Theology; Robert M. Gimello, Professor of Theology and of East Asian languages and cultures; Francesca Aran Murphy, Professor of Theology; Daniel Philpott, associate professor of Political Science and Peace Studies; Peter Casarella, Professor of Theology; Rev. Edward T. Oakes, S.J., University of Saint Mary of the Lake and Mundelein Seminary;  and Simona Beretta, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan. (View earlier news item)
