"Conviction vs. Compromise: Being a Person of Faith In a Liberal Democracy," to be held on Tuesday, September 4th at 7:00 PM in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. This is the kick-off event for this year's Notre Dame Forum, which is on the theme of challenges facing American democracy. The line-up is impressive (and, frankly, given the diversity of speakers, historic):

Pastor Rick Warren, Pastor of Saddleback Church, author of The Purpose Driven Life

Rev. Richard Cizik, President of the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good

Most Rev. Joseph Kurtz, Archbishop of Louisville, Vice-president of the Conference of Catholic Bishops

Elder Dallin H. Oaks, Member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Rabbi David Saperstein, Director and Counsel of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism

Cathlenn Kaveny and I will be the moderators.

This event is free but tickets are required.
