Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer

Bishop Dr. Rudolf Voderholzer was born in Munich in 1959. He studied philosophy and theology and was ordained to the priesthood in 1987. His pastoral responsibilities included associate pastor in Traunreut, Haar und Zorneding (1987-1991); Research Assistant at the Chair for Systematic Theology at the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich with Prof. Dr. Gerhard Ludwig Müller. He received his PhD in Theology in 1997. From 2003-2005 he was a Member of the Faculty of the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland); 2005-2012, he was Professor of Systematic Theology at the University Trier. In 2008 he was appointed Director of the Pope Benedict XVI Institute in Regensburg. He was named Bishop of the Diocese of Regensburg in 2013.
