Descripción
Dios nos llama a encontrar en la historia una manera especial por medio de Jesucristo y su misterio de salvación. Quienes aceptamos ese llamado y vivimos según el plan divino nos reconocemos como Iglesia, Pueblo de Dios. La Iglesia es ante todo una comunidad de creyentes, la cual Dios ha deseado desde el principio. El misterio cristiano no se entendería completamente sin la Iglesia. Cristo es la cabeza, la Iglesia es su cuerpo. Este curso es una oportunidad para acercarnos más de lleno al misterio de la Iglesia, sus raíces, naturaleza, estructura y misión en el mundo y la historia. El curso sigue de cerca la presentación sobre la Iglesia que aparece en el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, entrando en diálogo con documentos eclesiales y textos complementarios. Sabiendo que la Iglesia es una realidad encarnada en la historia y la geografía de las personas que la constituyen, el curso invita a los participantes a integrar sus experiencias eclesiales particulares, formular preguntas urgentes y vislumbrar cómo vivir más auténticamente el llamado a ser comunidad de fe aquí y ahora.

Requisitos del Curso
- Lecturas semanales de textos y otros recursos asignados

- Asignación semanal por escrito (entre 150 y 200 palabras)
- Sesión semanal con el o la facilitadora y otros estudiantes en el curso (se requieren 4 sesiones durante el curso)

Dr. Hosffman Ospino
El Dr. Hosffman Ospino es profesor de teología y educación religiosa en la Escuela de Teología y Ministerio de Boston College. Su investigación se concentra en el impacto de la conversación entre la fe y la cultura en las prácticas educativas y pastorales en la Iglesia. Él es editor del libro El ministerio hispano en el siglo XXI (Convivium Press, 2010). De su autoría son El catecismo de Pedro: ¿Quién Dices Que Soy Yo? ¿Por Qué Dudas? ¿Me Amas? (Liguori, 2011) y Evangelización y catequesis en el ministerio hispano: Guía para la formación en la fe (Liguori, 2013). Actualmente está escribiendo dos libros sobre parroquias multiculturales. El Dr. Ospino sirvió como el investigador principal del Estudio Nacional de Parroquias Católicas con Ministerio Hispano (2011-2013), cuyos resultados han sido diseminados en varias publicaciones. Con frecuencia se dirige a audiencias académicas y pastorales tanto a nivel nacional e internacional.

Course Description
God calls us to meet him in history through Jesus Christ and his mystery of salvation. Those of us who accept this call and live according to God's plan recognize ourselves as the Church, the People of God. The Church is above all a community of believers, which God has desired from the beginning of time. The Christian mystery cannot be fully understood without the Church, since Christ is the head and the Church is his body. This course gives us the opportunity to be drawn into the mystery of the Church, its roots, nature, structure, and mission in the world throughout history. The course closely follows the presentation of the Church found within the Catechism of the Catholic Church, with readings from other ecclesial documents and complementary texts. Recognizing that the Church is an incarnate reality in the history and geography of the people who constitute it, the course invites participants to integrate their particular ecclesial experiences, articulate pressing questions, and discern how to live the call to be a community of faith more authentically in the here and now.

Course Requirements
- Weekly reading of assigned texts and materials
- Participation in class discussions in the forums (minimum of two comments, questions or responses each week)
- Weekly written assignment (150-200 words)
- Weekly Zoom session with a facilitator and other students (4 required throughout the course)

Dr. Hosffman Ospino
Dr. Hosffman Ospino is a professor of theology and religious education in the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College. His research focuses on the impact of the conversation between faith and culture in the educational and pastoral practices in the Church. He is the editor of Hispanic Ministry in the 21st Century (Convivium Press, 2010), and the author of El catecismo de Pedro: ¿Quién Dices Que Soy Yo? ¿Por Qué Dudas? ¿Me Amas? (Liguori, 2011) and Evangelización y catequesis en el ministerio hispano: Guía para la formación en la fe (Liguori, 2013). He is currently working on two books about multicultural parishes. Dr. Ospino served as principal investigator for the National Study of Catholic Parishes with Hispanic Ministry (2011-2013), the results of which have been disseminated in various publications. He frequently addresses academic and pastoral audiences, both nationally and internationally.
