Jesucristo es el fundamento de la fe, que nace de nuestro encuentro personal con Cristo. Jesucristo no es solo una persona histórica sino también una realidad viviente que experimentamos en todas las dimensiones de nuestras vidas. Conocemos a esa realidad personal e íntima por medio de la experiencia cotidiana, las Sagradas Escrituras y las tradiciones de la Iglesia. En la figura del Cristo Crucificado y Resucitado llegamos a conocer el amor inmenso e incondicional de Dios. Este curso explorará la Cristología (el sentido y significado de Jesucristo) y cómo la comunidad cristiana ha entendido e interpretado a la figura de Cristo desde el tiempo de los Apóstoles hasta el presente. Los participantes también examinarán la relación entre la Cristología y la vida de la fe.

Requisitos del Curso
- Lecturas semanales de textos y otros recursos asignados
- Asignación semanal por escrito (150-200 palabras)
- Sesión semanal en Zoom con el o la facilitadora y otros estudiantes (se requieren 4 sesiones durante el curso)

Dr. Roberto Goizueta
El Dr. Roberto S. Goizueta es Profesor Emérito y Margaret O’Brien Flatley Chair in Catholic Theology en Boston College. Teólogo cubanoamericano, sus especialidades incluyen las teologías hispanas/latinas, teología y cultura, la estética teológica y la cristología. Entre sus libros y artículos están: Christ our Companion: Toward a Theological Aesthetics of Liberation (Orbis, 2009) y Caminemos con Jesús: Toward a Hispanic/Latino Theology of Accompaniment (Orbis, 1995). Tiene su doctorado en teología sistemática de Marquette University y también doctorados honorarios de Elms College y University of San Francisco. Es casado con tres hijos y también sirve en varios ministerios.

Course Description
Jesus Christ is the foundation of faith, which is born of our personal encounter with Christ. Jesus Christ is not only a person in history, but also a living reality that we experience in all the dimensions of our daily lives. We know this personal and intimate reality through our daily experiences, Sacred Scripture, and the traditions of the Church. In the person of Christ, Crucified and Risen, we come to know the immense and unconditional love of God. This course will explore Christology (the meaning and significance of Jesus Christ) and how the Christian community has understood and interpreted the person of Christ from the time of the Apostles until the present. Participants will also examine the relationship between Christology and the life of faith.

Unit 3: The Mysteries of the Public Life of Jesus
- The baptism of Jesus
- The temptations of Jesus
- The Kingdom of God
- Jesus’s messianic entrance into Jerusalem
Unit 4: Jesus Was Crucified
- Jesus and Israel
- The Passion of Jesus
- The causes of his crucifixion
- The redeeming death of Christ
- Our participation in the sacrifice of Christ
- Christ descended into hell
Unit 5: The Resurrection
- The empty tomb
- The appearances of the Risen One
- The resurrected state Christ’s humanity
- The Resurrection as a transcendent event

Dr. Roberto Goizueta
Dr. Roberto S. Goizueta is Professor Emeritus and Margaret O’Brien Flatley Chair in Catholic Theology at Boston College. A Cuban American theologian, his areas of expertise include U.S. Latino/a theologies, theology and culture, theological aesthetics, and Christology. Among his many publications are: Christ our Companion: Toward a Theological Aesthetics of Liberation (Orbis, 2009) and Caminemos con Jesús: Toward a Hispanic/Latino Theology of Accompaniment (Orbis, 1995). He holds a PhD in systematic Theology from Marquette University, as well as honorary doctorates in Human Letters from Elms College and the University of San Francisco. Dr. Goizueta is married with three children and engaged in diverse pastoral ministries.
